The famous setting for Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, Verona is one of northern Italy's main tourist destinations, largely owing to its incredibly rich artistic heritage.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Arena di Verona and Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore. Museo di Castelvecchio and Chiesa dei Santi Nazaro e Celso will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Vicenza (Basilica Palladiana, Chiesa di Santa Corona, & more), Gardaland Park (in Castelnuovo del Garda) and Fondazione Bisazza (in Montecchio Maggiore). There's lots more to do: admire the sheer force of Parco Naturalistico delle Cascate-Family, see the interesting displays at Casa di Giulietta, take a stroll through Piazza delle Erbe, and pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica Santa Teresa di Gesu Bambino.

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Basilica di San Marco and Doge's Palace. Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Ca' Rezzonico will appeal to museum buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Venice side-trips: Padua (Planetario di Padova, Orto Botanico di Padova, & more). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to St. Mark's Square, take in the architecture and atmosphere at San Giorgio Maggiore, snap pictures at Ponte di Rialto, and steep yourself in history at Centro Storico di Venezia.
