While Luxembourg City boasts the shiny headquarters of several European institutions and EU offices, it is also home to a beautiful old town that's designated as a World Heritage Site.
On the 21st (Tue), appreciate the extensive heritage of Le Chemin de la Corniche, take in the spiritual surroundings of Notre Dame Cathedral (Cathedrale Notre Dame), steep yourself in history at Palace of the Grand Dukes (Palais Grand-Ducal), then stroll the grounds of Luxembourg American Cemetery Memorial, and finally take in the dramatic natural features at Casemates du Bock.

The allure of the multi-cultural capital, Brussels, stems from its mix of political intrigue, artistic influence, historical significance, and a thriving social scene.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Grand Place and Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert. Musical Instruments Museum (MIM) and Horta Museum (Musee Horta) will appeal to museum buffs. Step out of Brussels with an excursion to Gravensteen in Ghent--about 58 minutes away. There's still lots to do: examine the collection at Atomium, explore the world behind art at René Magritte Museum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Michael and St. Gudula Cathedral (Cathedrale St-Michel et Ste-Gudule), and don't miss a visit to Belgian Comic Strip Center.

Getting from Luxembourg City to Brussels by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus; or take a train. January in Brussels sees daily highs of 5°C and lows of 0°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 24th (Fri) early enough to take a train to Amsterdam.
