Founded in 1850 by a dozen German immigrants, Blumenau remains a place apart from the rest of Brazil largely thanks to its distinct European culture, architecture, and cuisine.
On the 9th (Thu), examine the collection at Hering Museum and then let little ones run wild at Vila Germanica Park. On your second day here, get a sense of history and politics at Blumenau City Hall, admire the striking features of Catedral Sao Paulo Apostolo - Igreja Matriz, then see the interesting displays at Museu da Cerveja, and finally get to know the resident critters at Zoo Pomerode.
