On the 5th (Sun), explore the ancient world of Huaca Pucllana.

When traveling from New York City in April, plan for a bit warmer days in Lima, with highs around 76°F, while nights are much hotter with lows around 66°F. Capital of the Inca Empire for three centuries, World Heritage-listed Cusco is now a major tourist destination, drawing nearly 2 million annual tourists with its well-preserved colonial architecture and proximity to Machu Picchu.
On the 6th (Mon), contemplate the long history of Plaza de Armas, steep yourself in history at Sacsayhuaman, and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Qorikancha.

You can fly from Lima to Cusco in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Traveling from Lima in April, you will find days in Cusco are slightly colder (68°F), and nights are colder (43°F). Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Mon) early enough to travel to Machu Picchu.
