Opened in 1928 and designed by architect Albert Kahn, the Fisher Building's main tower is 28 stories tall, with two 11-story wings off either side. The Art Deco building was expertly constructed from granite and marble

With its three-story central arcade, ornate frescoes with bronze, marble, brass and golf-leaf mosaics, this beautiful building is best known for its "golden tower".

Considered to be Detroit's largest art object, the Fisher Building's public corridors are lined with over 40 kinds of marble gathered from around the world and incredible hand-painted ceilings.

  • We have been there to see numerous musicals and plays. Lovely setting and acoustics, good sight lines. The seats are what you would expect for an old theater— narrow, cramped, and not a lot of leg...  more »
  • A nice place to go if you have time. Not as much to see as Guardian building. Great ceiling architecture and marble columns. No photos allowed on the upper floors.  more »

  • This is truly a beautiful building. There are a group of shops that sell a variety of possible gifts and necessities as well as the theater. A new thing the building has been doing is showcasing local artists with their inside windows with exhibits switching between painted and photographed showcases. They also have additional displays pertaining to history such as the current "Flags of the Fisher" that is going on July 2019. I also highly recommend going on the tour of the Fisher Building through Pure Detroit, or just walking around the first 3 floors (especially the 3rd where you can see the ceiling's incredible artwork up close. A must see if you are visiting Detroit from near or far!
  • Beautiful atmosphere. Acoustics weren't the best but the show (Cats) was phenomenal. The shops, throughout the building, were quaint and very interesting. I'll definitely go back again.
