Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area are a series of canyons noted for their sandstone peaks and steep rock walls. The rugged rock formations rise up to 910 m (3,000 ft), making them a popular hiking and rock-climbing destination. You can explore most of this area via the 21 km (13 mi) one-way loop road, from which you can access numerous parking areas, picnic zones, and hiking and mountain-biking trails. Begin with a stop at the visitor center at the start of the loop road. Keep in mind that the trails usually start with an easy to moderate climb and become increasingly difficult as you progress to the top. Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area reviews
Do yourself a favor and rent a bike to ride the scenic loop. It's like a hilly half-marathon course with smooth one-way pavement for the hole loop. more »
The tour was mainly a drive through . That was because of the tour we chose. I would have preferred more hiking and exploring. We did a private tour (TWO COUPLES) . The driver was extremely well..... more »
Awesome park. So much to see here, you could spend weeks before you'd see everything. There's something for everyone here. If you aren't up for big hikes, you can do the scenic drive in about 30 minutes and stop at the visitory center which is very nice and also some view points with very short walks to see some views. My favorite hike with the best views is the Calico Tanks hike. This is of moderate difficulty, but is a nice hike for the family or groups that can handle a little rigor, but maybe aren't up for hard core desert hiking. Trails in the park are fairly well marked. Turtle Peak hike has great views, but is a workout that requires a commitment and some level of basic physical fitness.
My first "Real Hike", Nothing compared to anything I've ever seen. I was in awe of all the amazing views. I wish I had more energy to go farther. I spent about 4 hours for my very first visit here. I completed the moderate hike, Calico I & II. I recommend sun block & Lots of Water! (Frozen, not in your car, otherwise the walk back would drain you even more).
