The largest maritime museum in the world, Mystic Seaport Museum is home to a collection of historical ships and boats. Along with seacraft, a re-creation of a 19th-century fishing village is one of the attraction's most popular spots. The museum is housed in 60 historical commercial buildings where traditional crafts are still made the same way they were when the town was founded. Very interestingly designed and informative. We enjoyed the stay. Here you get a good impression of the seafaring and the life at that time. I absolutely loved this museum. It is loaded with history that is great for all ages. I literally spent the whole day here (with the exception of going to get lunch) because there is so much to see. As long as you wear your wristband you can come and go as you please before closing. The staff that I interacted with made the experience so much better because they have such great knowledge about the history of the exhibits. I also got to see the Mayflower II celebration, which was amazing and emotional. I am honored to have seen this beautiful ship full restored. I highly recommend one and all to check out this great museum. You will not be disappointed.
Really cool place! Full of history and knowledge. Really a great place for kids/adults interested in boats and history. The demonstrations were really unique, we enjoyed watching a blacksmith make a hook. However, the place closes at 6pm which I feel is such a shame because the attraction would be heightened with people wanting to view the water at night. Very well run and kept, such a lovely place to visit!!
