Horseshoe Bend, Page

4.8
Horseshoe Bend is a natural wonder famous for its striking contrast of water against red rocks. Just as its name suggests, the bend is a horseshoe-shaped curve cut into the rocks by the Colorado River, located just 6 km (4 mi) southwest from the town of Page. You can take a raft or helicopter tour or hike to the bend over a fairly short but very steep and rugged trail, often made more difficult by excessive heat. If you do choose to walk across this challenging terrain, be sure to wear rubber-soled shoes, light clothing, sunglasses, and a hat. To avoid dehydration, drink lots of water and make frequent stops as you hike to the scenic overlook above the meandering river. • Horseshoe Bend is well worth the short hike down. I was hoping that there wouldn’t be many people since it was December. WRONG! It’s a great site that should be on your list if in the area.  more »

  • Superb location. Very interesting landscape. The Colorado river turns and forms a surprising bend carving the mountains around. This lookout place is at a great height and we get a magnificent view of the valley bend and the Colorado river all the way down with a very steep slope everywhere. Keep caution while watching the nature's beauty and while taking pictures. Beautiful location !!
  • Good area to spend a couple of hours with the family. If with small kids be careful because the cliffs are very steep with no protection. It’s a short 0.9 mile one way but well worth it. The views are nothing short of spectacular so to say from any angle. What was also amazing is how people were trying to best each other in taking at the edge pictures! No idea why take that risk. Definitely a must visit in the Page area.
