The small village of Costa da Lagoa, on Lagoa da Conceição, can only be reached by boat or by winding forest trails. The village's remoteness and simplicity give it the feeling of a lost civilisation. Private speed boats can be rented, but the simplest (and cheapest) mode of transport is to use the same taxi-boat as the villagers do. Along the way you can stop off at one of the many waterfront restaurants with their own jetties. At the village itself, you can explore the forest trails, visit the tiny church, cool off at the waterfall, or simply talk to the friendly locals. Just make sure you don't miss the last boat back to the mainland.
