  • You can wall around the walls of Lucca. It is about 4km long and should take about 1 hour. It does not cost anything. There are a number of gates in the wall and entry points onto the walls. You can see across different parts of the city. There are a number of bars and restaurants on the walk. There is plenty of places to sit in the shade.
  • These walls are a lovely place to view Lucca from above. There are many benches in the shade and even playgrounds and picnic tables. I also ate a delicious lunch at a restaurant accessible via the wall path. There are a few exhibit spaces located in small buildings beside the path. One showed many traditional flags and even a crossbow used in the Palio. The gentleman there explained the interesting history of Lucca and the Palio. I recommend walking or biking along this path.
