Walk the underground tunnels at Galleria Borbonica, which that once connected a royal palace to army barracks and served as a bomb shelter during World War II. In the 16th century, 300 years before Bourbon king Ferdinand II decided to build a military underground passage, the tunnel housed water tanks for the city. You can still see the tanks, along with vintage cars, motorcycles, and fascist statues that were thrown away. One of the three available tours includes a raft ride in an abandoned subway tunnel filled with water. What a cool and insightful experience!! A must for history lovers and those that want to learn more about underground Naples 🇮🇹 Our tour guide was great (wish I could remember his name but he ran the English speaking tour!)- he made sure we were always informed and ok, and boy did he have a lot of information to give us! I loved learning about the history and seeing real pieces from WW2 where people lived in the underground caves during bomb raids- quite eerie actually!

Absolutely fascinating tour, led by Virginia, an excellent guide and native Neapolitan who really knows her stuff. This is the rarest kind of experience - literally an inside look at an important time in the history of an ancient city, complete with jaw-dropping views and a tour guide whose anecdotes bring it all to life. A must-see!
