Constructed as a mausoleum in the second century, the castle over the years has served as a military fortress, political safe haven, and prison. Now, it is home to a national museum. Take a tour of one of the papal apartments adorned with antique frescoes and original decor. Walk through the hidden passageway to St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. I took a bunch of pictures, but it must have been with my camera, not my phone. I'll have to download them later. It was a very relaxing ride down the green Tiber and then back up. A great way to spend an hour sitting down and enjoying the breeze during the warmest time of the day. The many bridges we passed under were very interesting. From the construction materials you could tell which were newer and which were older bridges. Each one was unique.

One of the top attractions in Rome. Must-visit place, unique and with stunning views from the terrace overlooking Rome and the Vatican city. Tickets costs around €15 per adult, and doesn't matter what time it is, there are always long queues so be prepared to spend some time in front of the castle ;) The good thing is that every day the artists playing on their instruments in front of the building creating unique atmosphere and unforgettable experience for the tourists. Don't forget to give them some nickels and dimes to support them!
