Whether under the hot sun of day or bright lights at night, Plaza de Armas serves as Cusco's beating heart around the clock. Shops, restaurants, and bars line the buzzing square, which acts as a meeting point and a social destination. An imposing cathedral and a striking church symbolize the historical importance of the square--this is where Spanish forces first seized control of Cusco, imposing their rules and religion on the land. Admire the timeless architecture of the plaza, or simply take a seat next to the roses and watch Cusco life in motion before your eyes. With our world travel planner, Cusco attractions like Plaza de Armas can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

Very gorgeous! It is very centrally located so you will most likely see it when you're in Cusco. A gorgeous square that felt very safe and had some good restaurants/stores very central to it.

Great little place. Nicest and safest looking area in Cusco. A lot of restaurants and street vendors if you're looking for food and shopping. Very picturesque little area. Lively and full of people. More expensive than Lima but that's tourism for you. They also have some high end shopping options for big spenders.

Beautiful architecture. We went down here for the Christmas market and weren't disappointed. There's usually some form of music, and there's a great Chinese restaurant (and, unfortunately, a Starbucks) nearby. For better coffee, go to the Three Monkeys just off the Plaza
