Carmo Archaeological Museum
See ruins of Carmo Archaeological Museum, Lisbon's only church built almost entirely in Gothic style, which was destroyed by the 1755 earthquake. Today the site serves as an archaeological museum. Completed in 1423, the church was said to be the most lavish and imposing in the city at the time. Today you can tour the interior to see its remains and visit exhibits of various artifacts, architectural adornments, and noteworthy excavated items. View tombs of notable persons, such as King Ferdinand I, and see statues, Spanish-Moorish tiles, findings from the Roman and Visigoth periods, and relics dating back to 3500 BCE. It's a beautiful church or should I say remains of what was a beautiful church. The roof was destroyed during the earthquake in the 1700s but the rest of the architecture is amazing. The museum inside with the archaeological findings is interesting too. It is right in the middle of all the other main areas so if you have the time, do check this out and you won't be disappointed.

I loved it! The ruins stand magnificent and you can also see beautiful things in the museum. One more thing I loved about it is the square in front of it, where you can have a coffee or an aperitivo while listening to street musicians.. This place was one of my favorites in Lisbon❤️
