Create an itinerary including Ponte de Dom Luis I
Traverse the iconic Ponte de Dom Luis I along its pedestrian pathway for beautiful views of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia. When it was completed in 1886, this 172 m (564 ft) bridge was the longest of its kind in the world. Now the two-hinged, double-deck, arched steel bridge is beloved for the spectacular vantage points it offers. The bridge is comprised of a lower section for cars and an upper section for a light rail and pedestrians. If you walk across the bridge, you can take photos from the high above the Douro River. • Very interesting place! Captured in a lot of pictures! Be careful when you walk as cars, tourists and so on! Free! The best in town!

  • Use the free street elevator and walk the stairs to gain access or the funicular railway or cross the river by ferry and take the cable car, visiting the port houses for a drink of port on the way.

  • A very impressive structure. Important to wander across as the views from each side are wonderful. Pavements narrow and traffic fast sometimes. Well worth going up to the top level as well. The views are magnificent.
  • Beautiful bridge, we crossed so many but i believe this one mirrors San Francisco bridge as the same firm designed it. Very nice experience... Hope I'm not confusing it with April 25 bridge, also a beautiful sight to behold...
