Catedral de Sta Maria la Real de la Almudena
The seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Madrid, the massive Catedral de Sta Maria la Real de la Almudena serves as a splendid example of Gothic revival style. Although the Catholic Spanish monarchy moved the seat of its empire from Toledo to Madrid in 1561, this major cathedral wasn’t completed until 1993. While inside, take note of the pop-art decor and statues by contemporary artists, both of which remain unusual features among European Catholic cathedrals. Head into the crypt to see a 16th-century image of the Virgen de la Almudena. Ascend the copula for views over Madrid. A visit to Catedral de Sta Maria la Real de la Almudena represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Madrid trip builder site to plot your vacation.

Very nice and impressive cathedral very much of the style of cathedral de Santa Maria in Toledo. For sure it worths a visit because it's next to the Royal Palace.

One of the top tourist tractions in Madrid. It’s located Central in the city and across from the Royal Palace. I would recommend a visit inside during the morning hours when there’s less people. I would also recommend a second visit to the outside in the Square adjacent to the church for sunset. This location is a ideal spot to take in the beautiful sunset and also fantastic for photos. When visiting Madrid this destination should definitely be on your list.

Restaurant didn't have an English menu but they took their time to explain a few dishes. A different experience for sure. I'd imagine people more familiar with the language and reign enjoy it even more. Very good 😊
