Kyoto — 5 nights

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Venture out of the city with trips to Osaka (Osaka Shiritsu Toyo Toji Museum, Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, &more). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Ryoanji Temple.

You can drive from Kanazawa to Kyoto in 3 hours. Another option is to take a train. Expect a daytime high around 22°C in April, and nighttime lows around 11°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 14th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Himeji.
