The Model Village is a one-ninth-scale replica of the Cotswold village of Bourton-on-the-Water, officially opened in 1937. Its remarkable detail took local craftsmen five years to create. The model represents how the town looked in the 30's and provides an interesting glimpse into the past. Examine the details of the village and discover its quirks and delights. Stand close to the town’s churches to hear the choir singing. Be sure to look out for the model of the Model Village itself. For a small surcharge you can also visit the Miniature World exhibition of highly detailed miniature scenes and room sets, including several moving miniature characters. The creation of this exhibition involved over 100 of England’s leading miniaturist craftsmen and women. Amazing little village to see. All the roads depict the main Bourton On the Water strip and it’s very nostalgic to see the materials used and quality of craftsmanship. I was very much impressed to see all the shops to such amazing dimensions. A highly recommend see. Go where there are not too many people around as it can spoil the experience with prams as the lanes are narrow and you don’t want to brush past people all the time. Nice to take pictures too. East to access and one will appreciate the level you of detail in the small buildings. You have to see this place.
