We love it here. Very quiet, great place to try out panning for gold, it's quite a unique place. The train ride is fun (run by very enthusiastic people!) and the little gift shop is fab, really good quality and reasonably priced. It's quite small and is very rustic, with masses of old machinery round and about - the kids spent a very happy few hours here.

Underfunded, quirky museum run by informed enthusiasts. Huge amount of interesting information about mining in general, not just slate and granite mining. The train ride is a must - the ticket will be issued and checked, the whistle blown just like the old days and the talk at the quarry is very good.
