This is a fascinating building, full of character and interest. There is a lot to see but you need to be able to go up stairs. The garden was good with good views of the house and the Minster. I gave 4 stars as you could only visit by guided tour, which meant you could not have a good look at some things. Hopefully one day you can visit without a tour. I understand the need for this but is still a shame.

Love this place. A hidden treasure in the heart of York with the Minster as a neighbour. Welcoming, informative staff in every room, gingerbread men trail and a Xmas tree in every room at the minute. Learn something new every time I visit.
