Indulge your passion for the scientific world at Museum of Science and Industry, the largest science museum in the Western Hemisphere. The complex boasts more than 800 exhibits--many of them interactive--representing diverse subjects, such as energy, environment, transportation, and space. Travel under the earth into the museum's exact replica of a 1933 Illinois coal mine, or head to the transportation wing to view a World War II German U-505 submarine and a replica of the first plane used by the Wright Brothers. Don’t miss the Apollo 8 aircraft that carried the first humans to orbit the moon and a retired United 727. Ask at the entrance about the always-fascinating temporary exhibits (additional fee). My five y/o son and I enjoyed our visit. They did a TERRIFIC job updating the Zephyr. Tons of interesting info added and cool touches like food menus in the buffet car and model produce and other items in cargo crates. Also, the Zephyr seating gives a very realistic feel to the whole experience. We otherwise enjoyed the usual exhibits, my son can never get enough of this place. Always something new to learn.

I haven't been here in close to two decades. It's nothing like I remember. Went to check out the Marvel Exhibit. The place seemed larger than I remember and there were a lot of interesting exhibits. Stopped in the gift store and had a great experience with two of the employees, who were very friendly and engaging. I'm going to bring my niece when she comes into town. I know she'll really enjoy it.
