Puerto de Punta del Este
Take a stroll along the boardwalk at Puerto de Punta del Este, one of the busiest marinas in South America. Serving as an international gateway to Uruguay, the marina features 490 moorings, with the capacity to hold up to 350 boats at once. Keep an eye out for sea lions swimming between the luxurious yachts that invariably drop anchor at the marina. Make sure you pop into the fish market, where you can barter over all kinds of fresh catches. After your walk, sample a local seafood dish at one of the many restaurants dotted around the marina. For Puerto de Punta del Este and beyond, use our Punta del Este day trip planning app to get the most from your Punta del Este vacation.

The port is a place where many different people and groups can enjoy themselves from morning till night. My family and I have been visiting the place since the 1980's and seen incredible development and transformation of what used to be a very short tourist season. Now with a more permanent population and corresponding infrastructure, the port has come into its own for residents and visitors alike. Great for people of all ages to walk, for dining, sight seeing (boat tours), just hanging out to take in the marine air and sun, and of course to buy fresh fish and fruits de mer.
